Placebo

 Last night there were supposed to be meteor showers but I didn't go out to see them.  Tonight is a lunar eclipse.  Zed wants to see it so I might get up and out too.  Currently there is cloud cover.   He has been listening to a podcast that has to do with the open-label placebo effect.  It is called The Placebo Magick Podcast.  It sounds interesting and I am going to try to look into it later.  The point of this is that we might try some placebo magick during the eclipse tonight, if we wake up.  Other happy things from today:

• Stepping outside with our dog, Aesop, this morning I didn't wear any shoes.  I had expected a very cold ground, it was only a little cold.  There were no signs of frost and the ground was good under my feet.  
• The day warmed to almost 70 degrees which made for a lovely day to go for a walk with my friend Amy.  We hadn't seen each other in a while and it was good to walk and talk for a while.
• Along the walk we saw a Halloween display still up in someone's yard.  There was something about the carriage that they used that I just think was spectacular.  It's a beautiful carriage and interesting Halloween decoration.  Apparently one can be purchased at Home Depot.

• There was a lovely sunset.  

• And a bright mostly full moon to light up the night.  Later there was rain, but the evening began with mostly clear skies.

Spacey

 From November 18-19 there will be a partial lunar eclipse.  Here is a website with some details.  I also found this website which includes the weather outlook.  It looks like conditions are poor for watching the eclipse where I am.  I'll remain hopeful, whether I remain awake or not is another story.  🤪  The Leonid meteor shower is tonight (November 17-18) but there is cloud cover here.  Things other than space that I am happy for today:

• The moon shone brightly down as I left for work this morning.  It looked nothing like the picture I took of it.  

The moon is/ more like a star in the picture.

• Zed and I toured the mall store that we are hoping to rent in March for an SCA event.  It was kind of cool to see some of the back areas that the general public doesn't tend to see.  One thing I never realized before is that some of the walls are so thick because there is access to electricity in them--at least that is my understanding.  
• Keziah bought a carrot cake and I just had the last piece, yum!

Tired Tuesday

 Working late was an option today.  I was tired and decided to go home instead.  Good thing I did because I had forgotten that I had a meeting with my Protege to go over some exchequer/treasurer things.  We had a very productive afternoon that has left me exhausted.  Other happy things for today:

• Even though I was tired I still got some writing done for NaNoWriMo.  
• Around sunset, I realized that I had not taken any pictures yet and what better thing to take a picture of than the sunset.  

• There were sprinkles coming down that I could hear more than feel.  It was a mix of rain and either sleet or freezing rain.  Not snow yet, but winter like weather.

Steps

 Monday's can be hard.  It is my day to try to reacclimate my body to working nights.  This morning I spent writing for NaNoWriMo.  I am pleased with my total word count as I have reached the halfway point and have slightly more than half the words needed to reach my goal.  My goal for the month is 11,000 words and I have written 5738.  It is possible that work will start having mandatory extra time as the holidays get closer.  Hopefully I'll be able to keep writing.  Other happy things for today:

• This morning the air was cold and there were clouds below us over the river.  I'm not sure how well it shows up in the picture behind the trees.

• Steps were made in planning for an SCA event in the spring.
• I stepped out of my shell for a moment and made small talk with a person in line at the store.  She reminded me of my ex husband's grandmother.  
• The afternoon clouds were absolutely fantastic today (except for the one that rained on me).  They were big and full of cold wetness.

Jeans

 It was a day full of chores and I even got many of them done.  A few things I forgot to do until it was already dark, they will have to wait.  One of the hardest things to get used to every year is the darkness after the clocks fall back.  The mistake I think I am making is waiting for noon to be here-so it will be warmer outside-and then I am outside, busy, and it will start to get dark.  Here are some things I am happy for today:

• The ground isn't frozen and I worked in the garden area today.  
• At the end of October I planted some cereal rye seeds as a cover crop in the garden.  I have been checking and not noticing any growth.  Cereal rye is supposed to make a good cover crop and grow even when it is really cold, and we can either till it back in in the spring or let it grow and harvest the grain in the fall.  I had given up on it growing, until today, there are sprouts!

• Back in August I went to Pennsylvania to check on the storage unit.  Everything was fine and we had lots of extra time so we wandered around a plaza.  I tried on some jeans at a Levi's store but decided to wait and buy them online.  I took pictures of the tags and a month and a half later I ordered them.  When I tried them on, the pants were too big.  This didn't make any sense until I stepped on the scale and realized I had lost fifteen pounds.  I finally went to exchange them at the outlet stores with Zed, who wanted to visit a different store in the same plaza.  I had no problems with the exchange except that the jeans were on sale.  I returned one pair and came home with two.  I really hope I like these jeans as much as I think I will.
• A friend of Keziah and Zed's made dinner for us tonight.  He is a professional chef somewhere in England.  It was pasta with a homemade ragu.  I was skeptical about liking it because I am not a big meat eater.  It was delicious!

Hadestown

 This year as an early family Christmas gift we all got to see a show in Boston.  The show is Hadestown and we all enjoyed it.  

Keziah and Zed saw the show on Broadway prior to the pandemic because Keziah has been following the making of this musical since it was just a concept.  My understanding is that Keziah and Bel met the writer's brother at camp (not my story) and so they have known about this for about ten years.  Any how, here are some happy things for today:

• We went to Hadestown with friends and one of them made us masks to go with the show.

• One of my favorite parts of the show is when Euridice and Orpheus are falling in love.   I don't want to give much away, but if you, dear reader, are familiar with Greek Myths, you will have an idea of what happens in this musical adaptation.
• After the show we got dinner to-go at the Dumpling Cafe, during a rainstorm, and enjoyed it with our friends in the parking garage.

• It was a wonderful day out in the big city of Boston.  It was also wonderful to get home!  Getting out of the car after the long drive and stretching out the kinks was also something to be happy about.

Rainy Day

 It was a rainy Friday.  For Keziah and I the first task of the day was to empty the septic in the RV.  Not the funnest of jobs, but I am happy that it is done and the biggest problem we had was getting the key to work unlock the drain.  Other happy things for today:

• When the rain wasn't heavy, I worked in the garden some.  I had a gentle (no injury/didn't fall) reminder that working in mud is slippery.  
• As the clouds started to break up tonight the sky turned orange.  I didn't end up with a picture that showed the color.

• For NaNoWriMo I have started another story.  Maybe if I could keep to one theme I would do better.  I got 411 words done and have a total of 4264 so far.  With a goal of 11,000 I think I am doing okay.
• It is Minecraft Friday!
