Peak

During this peak season at work I have spread myself a little too thin.  There hasn't been enough sleep.  It is my hope that after I finish writing this I will get a fair amount of sleep before having to wake up for another eleven hour night on my feet.  I honestly thought I was going to fall asleep while standing at work.  I didn't.  In fact, at one point they pulled another person off the line which made what I had to do go from three aisles to five and I was able to rally and do a pretty good job at getting the work done.  That is my happy thing for today.

NaNoWriMo

Around six o'clock last night I got a call from work.  I hadn't been asleep for long.  The recorded message was to make sure that the employees knew to come in an hour early for Mandatory Extended Time.  The holidays mean that more people are buying things so we have more work to do.  I'm happy I got the message and didn't end up being late for work.  Other things I am happy for today:

  • Keziah was nice enough to drive me into town for a quick errand.  I was so tired after work and having lunch that I didn't want to drive.  The task was completed thanks to Keziah driving.
  • Today, November 30th, marks the last day of NaNoWriMo, National Novel Writer's Month.  The recommended word count for adults to write is 50,000.  My personal goal was much smaller at 11,000.  I'm happy to report that when I stopped writing today my word count exceeded that.  I'm not sure if I will try to do this again next year.  But I reached this year's goal, yay!

Long Day is Long

It is late, I am tired, and it is so good to be home!!  What else is good that makes me happy?

Seeing people receive awards they really deserve.
Watching the joy on the faces of children as they find the sheep they have been searching for on a quest.
  • Hugs.
  • Seeing the faces (or at least eyes above the masks) of many friends.
  • I remembered to take some pictures.

Dog Tired

Soon, our lives will take a turn as we welcome a new pet into the house.  In my head, I am choosing to think of it as fostering a puppy, until we give some time to be sure the cats will be alright.  We are all very hopeful that things will go well.  Happy things for today:

  • The moon over the yard before I went to work.

  • Watching Nanni sleep on the Comfy Sack.  This will soon also be a dog bed.  I'm hopeful that they will get along.

  • Winston was asleep on a window hammock thing.  Me trying to take his picture woke him up, kind of.

  • Keziah went to the store and purchased things for the new puppy.

Tired Kind of Day

Five thirty in the morning is too early for someone who is unemployed to wake up without a reason.  I had some good momentum this morning and got my taxes done and a few other things before I conked out for a nap.  It was a quiet day.  There was a mixture of rain and snow so I stayed in all day.  All my steps were walking around the house.  Other than the taxes getting done and a nap my happy things for today are:

  • We were able to meal plan today and make chicken soup for dinner.  The bones were cooked in the crock pot last night and the soup today.  Dinner was early enough that we were able to watch a movie.  Yay!
  • Friday is Minecraft night with TF.
  • Gideon had some extra energy.  He didn't just stay in the house though like I did.  Last week we watched Singin' in the Rain, so Gideon pulled out an umbrella and went outside to sing in the rain.
